In this chapter, Odysseus prays to the gods for revenge toward suitors. The suitors are being more rude to Odysseus in disguise. The suitors throw chicken and swear words to Odysseus. Then Telemachus always stands up to the suitors bravely and wisely and protects his father. The suitors plan to kill Telemachus. But they see the eagle and feel flames that means they are scared. They give up to kill Telemachus and then they come back and sneer at Odysseus again. But only Theoclymenus feels serious flame and advises Suitors to be careful . but the suitors don't care about the advice and try to insult Odysseus more.

Eurycleia was Telemachus' and Odysseus' nurse when they were babies. She consoles Telemachus when he is upset with Penelope.
